Signora Volpe
Serie | DramaTo the casual observer, there’s nothing remarkable about Sylvia Fox. A beautiful and intelligent woman in her forties, she answers questions about her work with vague references to an unspectacular career in the Civil Service, but in truth she’s a high-ranking British spy, disillusioned with her job at MI6 and in need of a break. So when Sylvia (Emilia Fox, Silent Witness) arrives in Italy for her niece’s wedding and the bridegroom disappears, leaving a dead body in the lake at the bottom of his garden, she decides to solve the mystery and save her niece from disaster. Despite this dark start to her holiday, Sylvia is enchanted by the beautiful Umbrian countryside and surprised to find herself reconnecting with her estranged sister Isabel (Tara Fitzgerald, Game of Thrones) who lives in a handsome hillside town. When she stumbles upon a charming but derelict old house, she decides to buy it, quit her job and start afresh. But adventure-seeking Sylvia was never cut out for a quiet life and soon finds herself involved in a series of local mysteries – from the disappearance of a young woman a quarter of a century ago, to a blackmail plot against the son of a Russian politician. At first, Carabinieri Captain Giovanni Riva (Giovanni Cirfiera, American Crime Story) resents the former spy’s interference, but he soon begins to seek her help. Perhaps his interest in Sylvia is not purely professional?
