Parminder Nagra (ER, The Blacklist) stars as a police officer who is plunged into Birmingham’s murky underworld in this topical crime thriller that tracks a murder investigation with links to organised crime while exploring the emotional subject of racism in the workplace. Nagra plays Detective Inspector Rachita Ray, who is assigned to a challenging case that stretches her skills while forcing her to confront a lifelong personal conflict between her British identity and her South Asian heritage.
When DI Ray is asked to join a murder investigation, it soon becomes clear she’s been assigned to a “culturally specific homicide” because of her ethnicity and not necessarily her ability. She nonetheless presses on, delving deep into the dangerous world of organised crime. Filmed in Birmingham it boasts a high-profile supporting cast, including Jamie Bamber (Law and Order: UK, Marcella) and Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones, Killing Eve). The series was created by Line of Duty actress Maya Sondhi and executive-produced by Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty – also on BritBox, Bodyguard).
