DVB-S FEC 5/6 krever ca. 7dB SNR for å gi feilfritt mottak. DVB-S2 QPSK 8/9 krever teoretisk 6.2dB SNR for feilfritt mottak. DVB-S2 8PSK 2/3 krever 6.6dB SNR. For DVB-S2 så kreves det nok ca. 1dB mer enn teoretisk SNR. For DVB-S stemmer terskel verdiene veldig bra.
SNR verdiene antyder at 60cm antenne med lavt støytall kan fungere i Oslo så lenge det er blå himmel.
