Kort efter nyheden kom om at Discovery Networks har sikret sig Australien Open rettighederne 10 år frem, så har Discovery Networks netop købt endnu en tennisrettighed for en 10-årig periode. Det er Europa mod resten af verdenen turneringen Laver Cup, der blev introduceret tilbage i 2017.
6 top spiller fra Europa møder 6 topspillere fra USA i turneringen der spilles over tre dage hvert år. 2021 Laver Cup spilles fra 24.-26. september.
Det europæiske hold består af:
Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, Matteo Berrettini og Casper Ruud.
Björn Borg er holdkaptajn med Thomas Enqvist som vice kaptajn.
Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, Diego Schwartzman, Reilly Opelka , John Isner og Nick Kyrgios.
John McEnroe er holdkaptajn med Patrick McEnroe som vice kaptajn..

Discovery Sports has been awarded the exclusive Laver Cup rights in recognition of its proven track record of bringing new audiences to the world’s biggest tennis competitions including at the 2021 Australian Open where it secured a record-breaking number of viewers via the Eurosport App and a 61% increase in visitors to its digital platforms during the tournament.
