Serien, der i USA vises på Peacock tjenesten, er baseret på den populære podcast af samme navn, og fortæller den uhyggelige historie om en karismatisk ung amerikansk læge, der med sine fejlbehandlinger invaliderede 31 patienter og kostede to mennesker livet.

Dr. Death handler om den unge og karismatiske neurokirurg Dr. Christopher Duntschs syge sind, et fejlslagent amerikansk sundhedssystem og to læger der gjorde, hvad de kunne for at få ham stoppet.

Joshua Jackson (The Affair) spiller hovedrollen som Dr. Christopher Duntsch, der invaliderede 31 patienter og kostede to mennesker livet med nogle ellers rutinemæssige rygoperationer, som blev foretaget i 2010’erne i Dallas. Duntsch fik en livsvarig fængselsstraf i 2017 for sine gerninger – den første dom nogensinde givet til en læge for fejlbehandling i USA.

Alec Baldwin (Mission: Impossible-filmene) danner makkerpar med Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) i Dr. Death. De spiller rollerne som henholdsvis Dr. Robert Henderson og Dr. Randall Kirby, der anede uråd, efterhånden som ofrene blev flere og flere. Sammen med statsanklageren Michelle Shughart (AnnaSophia Robb, The Act) satte de sig for at få stoppet kollegaen, Dr. Duntsch.
